Radiant Orchid

Everybody's heard of Pantone's color of the year, right? Maybe not. I know I hadn't heard of it until the very end of 2013 and then heard about it again when the 2014 color, Radiant Orchid, was introduced.

After looking through Pantone's previous colors of the year I thought that this would be one of the ones that would be a little easier to wear. So I went right to my bathroom and created the look below.

Let me first start by saying that I am in no way shape or form a professional photography or a professional make up artist. Doing makeup has always come very natural to me and I find it to be a hobby of mine. As far as photographing it, I will almost always snap a quick shot with my iPhone and put an assortment of photos together with Instapic.

To get this look I first applied a concealer all over my lid to act as a primer. Then I went in with a light pink shade all over my lid. I stayed away from anything too bright so that it would be easy to wear. To add definition I went in with a purple shade mainly in my crease with a little extra in the outer corner, but not much. To finish I added some black liquid liner on my top lash line that gets gradually thicker as it reaches the outer part of my eye and then lined my bottom lash line with white liner to open up my eyes more. As a last touch I blended a mix of the pink/purple and added it below my lash line as a subtle pop of color and completed the look with a couple layers of mascara.

Although this may not be something I would wear everyday to the office, it is something that you could definitely get away with wearing during the day and is something that could easily be made more bold to wear on a night out.
